Endeavour launch Embark standard document pack

Endeavour Partnership is a niche firm of solicitors based on Teesdale Business Park which is dedicated to providing legal services exclusively to businesses based in the Tees Valley region and beyond. Endeavour acts for businesses across various sectors, ranging from start up/new businesses to those which have been established for many years. 

We recognise that any new business has much to consider and organise in its early stages and that dealing with legal matters may not seem to be a priority. We also understand that ‘cash’ is likely to be tight. As a result some new businesses commence trading without having taken proper legal advice and, therefore, are immediately exposed to legal risk in many areas of their activities. It is usually only when it is too late that the business first becomes aware that it is exposed and that it should have protected itself by taking legal advice.

In order to assist new businesses we put together a business start up guidance pack, ‘Embark’. ‘Embark’ is available free of charge to download from our website (www.endeavourpartnership.com). The idea behind ‘Embark’ is to provide a brief summary in practical terms of the key legal areas which a new business must consider when ‘embarking’ on their business venture. ‘Embark’ provides guidance and advice on matters such as deciding upon the correct legal structure for the business, employment law, intellectual property protection and exploitation, compliance and regulatory obligations and, particularly relevant in the current climate, sets out ways in which cash collection can be improved and the risk of bad debtors can be reduced. The response to ‘Embark’ from new businesses, banks, accountants, and business support organisations has been very positive.

Keen to continue to assist new businesses, and considering the current economic climate, we have taken ‘Embark’ a step further and have now produced packs of standard legal documents suitable to be used by the different types of business: limited company, limited liability partnership, partnership and sole trader.  Each pack includes some of the key documents which a new business will require when starting out (tailored to the type of business entity) which cover both the internal arrangements in the business (such as agreements between shareholders or agreements between partners) and external trading arrangements, including terms and conditions upon which the business will sell its goods/services and terms suitable to be used when trading online.  The legal documents have been drafted to seek to protect the business against some of the areas of legal risk which it will face. The documents are prepared in a standard form (in CD rom format) and are accompanied with guidance notes to assist the business in completing the few blanks in the documents. 

For any business that takes an ‘Embark’ legal documents package we also offer thirty minutes legal advice at a substantially discounted cost of £50 plus VAT. A business can choose to use that time either in us advising upon the legal documents within the pack, or we will be happy to discuss any other legal queries which the business may have.
