Corporate and Social Responsibility Policy

The Endeavour Partnership LLP (the Firm) recognises that a large number of charitable organisations rely heavily upon donations from the UK business sector and appreciates the increasing difficulties many organisations face in raising much needed funds. It is regrettable that we cannot support every application.

The purpose of this policy is to set out the principles of the Firm’s policy of giving to charitable organisations.

Selection and Support

The Firm is committed to working with the local community and supporting local charities which are comparable with the firm’s position in the community. The Firm has adopted a formal charitable support policy and under this shall elect from time to time two to three “formal” good causes to whom it will provide ongoing support and will set out the basis on which support is considered and or provided to other charities. This is to ensure consistent and effective charitable giving and avoid uncertainty.

Budget

The budget for charitable giving is set by the Finance Partner each financial year.  This takes into account the amount committed to the charities (as decided by the Partners ) to whom the Firm provides ongoing support (ie via monthly or annual direct debit patronage payments).

There Firm in the annual figure set by the Finance Partner includes provision for smaller charitable donations that may be made on an ad hoc basis throughout the year following requests from clients, contacts or charities to donate by way of sponsorship or donating prizes for specific fundraising events.

Charites

The Firm has committed ongoing support to the following charities;

  • Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Association as a Patron
  • The Butterwick Hospice as a corporate sponsor.
  • The Prince’s Trust
  • Coatham House (historic commitment to undertake legal work on a cost charge basis).

Charities to whom the firm provides ongoing support and the continuation of such support shall be considered as appropriate by the Partners.

In addition to charities to which the firm provides ongoing support, the Firm may at its discretion choose to support other initiatives in terms of ‘one off projects’ in any year. This may include agreeing to and promoting fundraising for the benefit of other charities with which the Firm may have a link or to collaborate with such other charities along with those to which it provides ongoing support.

Staff are also encouraged to put forward charities to whom the Firm may provide support (either on an ongoing or one off project basis) and these will be proposed by the Associates for the consideration and approval of the Partners.

Supporting other Charities

The Firm recognises that employees may wish to support charities that are personal to them as individuals and we are happy for individuals to seek sponsorship/sell raffle tickets etc. for individual causes amongst work colleagues/the intranet.

The Firm is also happy to support established national fundraising events such as Children in Need, Jeans for Genes and Comic/Sports Relief with appropriate staff engagement and organisation for such causes.

Process

Requests for support should be made in writing in the first instance addressed to Nick Dent or Martin McKinnell at The Endeavour Partnership LLP, Tobias House, St Mark’s Court, Teesdale Business Park, Teesside, TS17 6QW.

Providing legal advice to Charities

Any work undertaken for charities or a charitable organisation shall be charged at the Firm’s normal hourly charge out rates according to the level of fee earner instructed.

Any proposals for a discounted rate must be made in the first instance to the Finance Partner who may, at their discretion, liaise with the Partners before issuing a decision to the Fee Earner concerned.

Review

The policy will be reviewed every two years (commencing from the date of the policy) by the Associates who will then make recommendations to the Partners.

Any queries in respect of this policy and or its application should be directed to the Associates.
